VOLUNTEERING RULZ OK!
Those of you with small children in your family have probably already heard of the Toy Library. And if you haven't, then you should definitely seek out about your nearest Toy Library as soon as you can!
The toy library service works in much the same way as a regular library except with toys which is awesome because as soon as your little darlings have exhausted the novelty factor of the latest and greatest in plastic heaven, then you simply give it back.
For the miniscule cost of $1-$4 per toy per fortnight, we can easily come home with a car boot full of whatever their hearts desire while mummy rests easy in the knowledge that all will be returned again in a couple of weeks. The plastic chaos in my home is kept to a minimum, the cherubs are happy, it's a win-win for everyone!
As a frequent and dedicated member of the Mt Toy Library since my eldest was born, I felt it was my turn to join the committee this year. And, as luck would have it, this is the year the committee wanted to run a major fundraiser event. Now that's right up my alley!
So if you've got some under 5s to entertain on Sunday, 14th August, then bring them down to theTauranga Aero Club at Aerodrome Rd (on the airfield) for our Kids Flying Fiesta. Open from 11am to 3pm, the kids can enjoy our "Be A Pilot" tours, fire truck rides, pre-loved toy sale, dart competition, sausage sizzle, face painting, bouncy castle, balloons, splatter painting, etc etc - watch out for our poster here and flyers in cafes and stores around town.

NEW PROJECTS ON THE GO!
 Things are really starting to get very exciting now down at Ibex Lighting, kicking up with a sharpened up logo. Having completed a strategic marketing plan earlier this year, we are now underway with getting their new marketing communications and activities up and running. This is being led by some fantastic new photography by Mark Hamilton, stunning design work from Reap Creative and a comprehensive website fromMOCA. Watch this space for more news soon!
 Shoof International Ltd is another new client which wanted some marketing help to get better support for the awesome newBekina boots through their farm dealer network. These super comfortable, lightweight gumboots were a huge hit with the farmers at the Fieldays this year, buying up 750 pairs in just four days! However, as with any new product coming onto the market, the real challenge is getting the support and buy-in from your distribution channels.
The F1R marketing recommendation was to create a fun and exciting promotion that will bring the products to the front of the store plus bring more customers into the stores, asking for Bekinas. Keep an eye out for our "Mmmm, Bekina!" promotion running later this year to win a bed when you next buy your Bekinas.
COOL APPS FOR YOUR IPHONE
I have to admit that most the Apps I have downloaded to date have been kids games. However, as I get out and about more these days I'm now finding the conversations turn to the latest Apps that someone has discovered. So here's a couple for you to check out too:
- OneGratis - Essential if you're a regular at Grindz. No more carrying around that ridiculous stack of coffee cards!
- EasyBC - Take a photo of the business card and this app will automatically match and load the info into your contacts database!
- Bump - Select the info you want to share with another Bump user and literally bump phones to share the info.
- Wind Meter - Hold your phone up to the wind to get an accurate reading using the microphone. OK, perhaps more relevant if you're into sailing, windsurfing or kiting.
- Phone4Kids - Very cute and kiddy friendly, although my 1yr old has already figured out the off button.
